4 Suit Spider Solitaire
The hardest mode, with all four suits in play. Free in your browser, with unlimited undo.
4 suit Spider Solitaire is the classic expert version, with all four suits (spades, hearts, clubs, diamonds) in play at once. Only same-suit descending sequences can be moved as a group or score as completed runs. This is Spider Solitaire at its most demanding. It is free to play in your browser, with no download and no login.
Why 4 suit Spider Solitaire is very hard
You can place any card on a card one rank higher, whatever the suit. But a group of cards only moves together when every card in it is the same suit and in order. A 9 of hearts on a 10 of spades is a legal placement, and it also splits the column. You now have to move those cards one block at a time.
A run only clears to the foundation when it goes King to Ace in one suit. With four suits shuffled across two decks, clean runs are rare and columns clog up fast. You need all 8 runs to win.
Unlimited undo and hints
Undo has no limit. Use it to test a line of play, see what a move uncovers, and back out if it goes nowhere. Each undo counts as a move but does not cost you points. The Hint button suggests a move when you are stuck. Neither one can rescue a deal that has no way forward, but both make the hard mode far less punishing while you learn.
Typical win rates
Experienced players win roughly 6 to 10% of 4-suit games. In theory, about 35% of deals can be won with perfect play. Compare that with 50 to 70% on 2-suit and 90%+ on 1-suit. Losing most 4-suit games is normal. Read more in Is 4 suit Spider Solitaire possible?
Tips for 4 suit games
- Build same-suit sequences wherever you can. Mixed-suit stacks only help as a short-term step.
- Turn over face-down cards early. Hidden cards are where the game gets stuck.
- Treat an empty column as your most valuable resource. Do not fill it with a single card unless that card unlocks something.
- You cannot deal from the stock while any column is empty, so set up your board before each deal.
- If the stock is gone and no same-suit moves are left, start a new game.
