Why is Spider Solitaire so hard?

The four-suit game is hard by design. You play two full decks, 104 cards across ten columns, and you win only by building eight complete King-to-Ace runs in a single suit. The catch is that only same-suit sequences move as a group or count toward a finished run. In 4-suit, most of the tidy runs you build are the wrong suit, so they become liabilities that clog your columns instead of helping. You also cannot deal from the stock until every column has at least one card, which forces awkward moves. And not every deal is winnable, so some losses are not your fault. Start on 1-suit, where every card matches, then work up.
